It has been a while
A recap.
Squirrel's school is very happy with his progress. His teacher actually told me he *likes* him! It's amazing for me to hear that. He has had teachers who can't stand him. But, this guy is truly an amazing and gifted teacher.
I'm feeling confident that he will have a place in his school for next year.
He will be attending NYU's ADHD camp for a full eight weeks this summer. I'm so excited about this!
I've been working hard to reach out to other moms of ADHD boys and schedule playdates with them. It is so much less stressful to deal with these moms than it is to deal with other moms/kids. They just "get it", and their kids can keep up with mine.
What else...antidepressants have helped me immensely with my patience.
My husband and I were discussing teeth--I had braces for 4.5 years, and he has naturally perfect teeth. We are hoping that since Squirrel had to inherit his dad's neurological deficiences (or differences? atypicalities? I'm not sure they are actually problematic on their own--they just don't jive well with modern life.), he also inherited his perfect teeth.
We can afford therapy or braces, but not both! Ha ha ha.
I had a funny conversation with another ADHD mom about how our boys would have fared in hunter/gatherer times. We agreed that our boys, being loud and impatient, would not have made great hunters. But they would have been excellent gatherers! ADHD kids notice EVERYTHING, and never tire of searching for things.
That's pretty much everything. I haven't posted much recently because things are going pretty well, and there haven't been many changes--same meds, same doctors, same school...
