Happy Summer!

Squirrel successfully graduated from first grade, and will start in his current school for second grade in September.

To date, he still doesn't have any friends at school. But, we've been doing our best to network with other ADHD moms & kids, and that is going nicely.

For the summer, Squirrel will be attending NYU's Child Study Center ADHD camp. This will be his first time ever in a special needs environment, and I have to say that this is a HUGE weight off my shoulders. It seems like such a dream not to have to dread pick up times...perplexed counselors rolling their eyes, hands thrown up in the air...

Not that he has had bad counselors in the past--they just weren't equipped for my son's level of need.

Changes and progress have been so minute and incremental of late that I haven't felt the need to post. Slow progress has been made, and we crawl through our days...Squirrel has been overall quite improved, but has been extremely mouthy.

So, for the summer we are working on: learning to type, stopping the back-talking, figuring out the best meds for him, and having fun! Summer should be fun!!!!

Swimming, biking...it is time for fun. No arguments over homework, a more relaxed schedule...I'm excited. Have purchased some non ADHD-related reading materials for myself.

I have taken myself off the depression meds. I felt like they had done their work, and my system seems to be working. It has been a few weeks now, so I would be seeing the results if I needed to go back on them.

That's about it. Stay strong, moms. Treat yourselves well. The moms of ADHD kids need some extra love & strength.
